The Blueprint for Maryland’s Future represents one of the most ambitious state-level education reforms in the country. Central to this legislation is Pillar 3: College and Career Readiness (CCR), a mandate that students demonstrate readiness for postsecondary education or high-wage, high-demand career pathways prior to graduation.
For career development professionals, Pillar 3 raises critical questions:
● How is readiness defined?
● What competencies are measured?
● How are schools integrating career advising, pathway alignment, and work-based learning?
● And, where do career practitioners fit within this ecosystem?
